THE PROPOSAL
The Proposal is a romantic comedy movie of Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. Sandra played the role of Margaret Tate; the executive editor-in-chief of a publishing company in New York, a Canadian who is about to be deported because her visa application got denied. Ryan played the role of Andrew Paxton; assistant to Margaret, and was blackmailed by Margaret to marry her so she will not be deported, or else she will fire him.
Andrew accepted Margaret's offer with conditions that he will be promoted as editor and his work be published. And to prove to the Immigration Officer that the engagement and marriage plans is not fraudulent, Margaret got the idea of attending Andrew's grandmother's 90th birthday party on a weekend in Sitka, Alaska.
Meeting the whole family of Andrew, overwhelmed with the warm welcome and treatment from the future mom-in-law and grandma-in-law, Margaret didn't want to betray the whole family and so she announced the sham on the day of their wedding.
With just few days being together in Alaska, realizing what a wonderful person Margaret is, having found her weakness and love to have a family she could have, Andrew flew back in New York in their office, chasing Margaret and proposed her a real marriage in front of their officemates.
Women of this generation are becoming career-oriented and very dynamic. They may at times outsmart men, and could be the biggest threat for promotion. Yet behind these women's tough personality lies a very weak soul, a soft heart, and a lonely creature who likes to be treated as a family, as an individual one could share a life with. Someone who's longing to be with a partner who voluntarily shares a hug, a warm embrace to feel comfort, an unending promise of togetherness that only DEATH can set them apart.
